Use
your Octopus
in Macau and
Shenzhen
From
10
December
2006,
your
Hong
Kong
Octopus
has
been
accepted
in
Macau,
the
second region outside Hong Kong after Shenzhen where Octopus
services
have
been
available
since
3 August
2006.
What you need to know:
- Reloading your Octopus in Macau
and
Shenzhen
with
cash
is
not
allowed.
- Octopus linked to Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) works normally in Macau
and
Shenzhen.
- In Macau, the exchange rate for Macau Pataca (MOP) to Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)
for Octopus payment transactions is MOP1: HKD1.
- In Shenzhen, with effect from 30 June 2007, the exchange rate for Renminbi
(RMB)
to HKD for Octopus payment transactions is set by the merchants.
The payment amount in HKD is rounded to the nearest
decimal
place after the conversion. The exchange rate is clearly
shown on signage displayed by merchants in their
outlets
and transaction amounts in both RMB and HKD are printed on
the payment receipts. Customer enquiries regarding currency
conversion
matters should be directed to the merchants.
