As a tourist, you will find Octopus indispensable for getting around Hong Kong's sights and shops as you won't need to buy individual tickets for different transport systems or carry coins either.

Octopus is also widely accepted at retail outlets including fast food chains, cake, bakery and convenience stores, supermarkets, personal care stores, vending machines, photobooths, pay phones, cinemas and leisure facilities. Just buy a Sold Octopus and look for the Octopus sign, and you can enjoy the convenience of "touch and go" payment during your stay in Hong Kong.

Using Your Octopus

	Use of an Octopus is subject to the Conditions of Issue of Octopus
	If the value of your Octopus is positive (i.e. HK$0.1 or above) but insufficient to cover the full cost of your next transaction, you may incur a negative value of up to HK$35, which will be recovered when your card is reloaded.
	If the value on your Octopus is zero or negative, your Octopus cannot be used until it is reloaded.
	Special offers for Octopus holders, such as concessionary fares for children or the elderly, are subject to the terms and conditions issued by the relevant transportation companies or organisations.
	The card will be valid for 3 years from the last add value date.

The Airport Express Tourist Octopus

	There are two types of Airport Express Tourist Octopus available at Customer Service Centres on all MTR and Airport Express stations:
	HK$220 for ONE Airport Express Single Journey and the additional benefits listed below.
	HK$300 for TWO Airport Express Single Journeys and the additional benefits listed below. The free journey(s) is valid for 180 days from the date of purchase.

The additional benefits, which apply to both types of Tourist Octopus, are:

	Three days of unlimited rides on the MTR*, starting on the day of your first MTR journey.
	You can add value to this card, which can be used at any retail outlets or other transport systems accepting Octopus even after the three-day MTR* unlimited ride period.
	HK$50 refundable deposit which will be refunded to you when you return the Octopus.
